Jules Gourley – Ruby Moon
Jules is drawn to the little things that catch you by surprise and make life feel brighter, more beautiful, and a bit more playful.
A retired midwife of 25 years, Jules still carries that calling with her in the way she sees the world. Creating has always been a place for Jules to explore, play, and find her flow, leading her through sculpture, pottery, photography, sewing, baking, and whatever catches her imagination next.
Not surprisingly, midwifery often showed up in her creative work, in pregnant forms, bowls created for umbilical cord-burning rituals, placenta imagery, and The Tree of Life.
Her latest creative rabbit hole began with a rug she wanted but couldn’t find, so naturally, she made it herself. The rugs quickly became a playground for color and form, while the sculptor in Jules began wondering how those same coils might take shape in three dimensions.
Whatever form they take, Jules wants her pieces to add a little unexpected to the everyday, a spark of whimsical delight.
Because ordinary life deserves a little magic.
