I am forever a student of the natural world! I have lived in the mountain west all of my life and am constantly taking notes. Whether it be taking a picture of an inspiring sunset, learning a new native plant, or identifying a new birdsong, I am always excited to put names to the species I meet :) My mentality is that all of these moments outside have things to teach me.
I have worked for public land agencies in the Rocky Mountains for the past several summers seasonally and love the cyclic nature of hard work and time spent in nature followed by periods of sleepy winter rest and creativity during the off-season.
While I am painting, it allows me to learn my subject matter again on a new, creative level! I find this to be deeply engaging and frankly- very exciting! What particular shade of yellow is the bunchgrass valley? How do I make rocks crumble on the canvas like they do in real life? I gravitate towards two dimensional art and particularly enjoy using acrylic, oil, and watercolor paints. I am always learning and trying out new ways to be creative.
