Native of the Jemez Mountains, I'm a self-taught jewelry maker and artist. Influenced by the beauty of nature around us, cultures that are dear to me, and outdoor activities that I enjoy, my mediums and designs are as varied as the northern New Mexico landscape.
I use several processes and materials to create my jewelry, from delicate fine silver with 24k gold Keum Boo process detailing, to more organic, lost wax or hand forged sterling silver. I love to incorporate unique stones, as well as exotic woods, ethically sourced butterfly wings, local clay, and other tiny objects found in nature into my designs, to create little "Jemez memento" wearable pieces.
Years ago I discovered that carving wood and linoleum for printmaking provided the same meditative escape that carving for lost wax silver provided, but was easier on my hands. I now use lasers to transfer the hand carved images into functional items, such as stands for phones or books and car sunglass holders, wallets, and hair accessories; I also incorporate them into silver and wood jewelry. Recently I've been experimenting with fine leather for home and personal accessories and am working on incorporating silver, for unique cross functional pieces!
